For years, I worked on my collages with pure colors, without tonal variations, differences in intensity, or texture, ensuring that the action of the color would not be compromised. I was interested in the maximum power of each color, without interference. Over time, I began to soften my intentions and started paying more attention to the small occurrences that added a material quality to my colors, creating the anticipation of new spaces.

During the pandemic years (2020-2022), confinement kept us indoors, and Matisse's painting, The Red Studio, was the stimulus for a new and immense series of collages and engravings where the colors and ornaments used by the artist provoked a magical and extremely stimulating movement. I first created a series of collages called “Quarto Rosa”, followed by “Conversas com Matisse”. Both series explore the representation of space through color, in bold chromatic studies — delicate or somber — always reflecting on the relationships learned from the works of the master painter.
